Fullbore shooting - Trinity term
During Trinity term the Club shoots fullbore. OURC shoots two disciplines: Target Rifle (TR) and Match Rifle. Target rifle is from 300 to 1000 yards without a scope while match rifle is from 1000 to 1200 yards with a scope. They are both shot outside and it is very pleasant to spend a sunny afternoon on the range. Almost all of the fullbore shooting the club does is at Bisley, the home of target shooting in the UK and just under an hours drive from Oxford.
There is a training week held in the Easter vac, it’s usually very social and great pre season practice. We then shoot during the weekends of Trinity term. The highlight of the summer shooting season is the Imperial meeting, a week of shooting during the summer holiday.
Competitions
Competitions against other universities and clubs are held throughout Trinity.
The Varsity matches are held during the Imperial meeting. Shooting in either the MR or TR varsity match gives you a half blue and shooting above 145 in the TR or 218 in the MR fills some of the full blue criteria.
